Boyz ‘N The Hood director John Singleton has emerged as the frontrunner to helm the Taylor Lautner-led Abduction.
Singleton, who also steered 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury) are at the top of studio Lionsgate’s list to make the action project.
Shawn Christensen’s Abduction script is described as a Jason Bourne-style man-on-the-run thriller. The story centres on a teen who discovers a picture of himself as a baby on a missing-persons database and sets out to seek the truth about his background.
Lautner can next be seen in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, opening in cinemas this summer.

Just last week we marveled at the sheer number of projects “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner had in development, and perhaps he was starting to feel the pressure too. After dropping out of “Northern Lights” earlier this week, the 18-year-old has parted ways with another project, “Max Steel,” based on the Mattel toy, reports New York magazine’s Vulture blog.
Sources say it was his “Stretch Armstrong” collaboration with rival toy company Hasbro that was the impetus for Taylor’s departure. According to Vulture, Taylor realized Hasbro was doing a better job with its movie properties than Mattel. To wit, the toy company has leveraged board games Candy Land, Battleship and Risk into high-profile projects and had earlier success with a couple small flicks called “G.I. Joe” and “Transformers.” Added one source, “When you sign up to make a movie with Hasbro, you know it will be in theaters a year later.”
Not 100% sure if this is true or not but I thought I’d post it and If It’s wrong someone can let me know!

Taylor Lautner has met with veteran director Garry Marshall (see photo) about a trilogy of films, the second one being “Dear Eleanor”. The story is about two young teenage girls, Ellie and Max the Wax, traveling across America in the 1960s in search of Eleanor Roosevelt and Ellie’s late mother. Abigail Breslin is reported to play one the 14 year olds and Taylor Lautner is being considered for her love interest.
The girls’ journey begins in the Pumpkin Capital of the World, Manteca CA and their final destination is The Big Apple, New York City. They have many adventures during their travels including being robbed by a Warren Beatty dead-ringer and getting assistance from Max’s Aunt Daisy who happens to be a contortionist who can fold herself into a bag, apparently she does this often as a vaudevillian performer. Ellie loses all hope of ever finding her mom and her literally “twisted” Aunt Daisy urges her to see what is waiting for her at Eleanor Roosevelt’s house. The girls think that Roosevelt’s house will be their final destination but little do they know its just the beginning of their journey.
The film seems filled with interesting and even, bizarre characters and looks like it will be a nice vehicle in which Taylor Lautner should be involved. With the incredible insight of director Garry Marshall and the looks and talent of the young Taylor Lautner, this film will be anything but dull. The film is set for release in 2010.
